Sunday, October 18 — Sensory Movement Hiking

OneSolidarity volunteers and their families are independently organizing a sensory movement hiking outing this Sunday morning. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to sign up in our group chat. This is a voluntary, independently organized outing, not an official OneSolidarity event. OneSolidarity is not organizing or assuming responsibility for this outing. Participants should assess their own fitness and the risks involved in outdoor activities and take responsibility for their own safety.

📌 Location:

Chestnut Ridge Park Eternal Flame Trail
Chestnut Ridge Road, Orchard Park, NY

Meeting Point:
The Eternal Flame parking lot near the trailhead.

🥾 Hiking Route:

The hike will begin with the approximately 1-mile trail to the Eternal Flame. If you’ve never seen it before, it’s a treat! We’ll then hike another 3.5 miles along sections of the Boy Scout, Ward Hill, and Orienteering trails before returning to the parking lot.

The hike is rated moderate, with some short uphill climbs. Although the creek leading to the flame is usually quite dry at this time of year, some sections may still be wet and slippery. Appropriate footwear is essential.

🎒 What to Bring:

– Comfortable hiking shoes or boots with good traction
– Windproof, warm layers that can be added or removed
– A hat suitable for outdoor conditions
– A backpack
– Plenty of drinking water and personal snacks
– Hiking poles, if available

👣 Volunteer Trail Leader

Sonny, a teacher from the Williamsville school district, has kindly volunteered to lead the hike. Other members will help ensure that no one is left behind and remind participants to stay safe.

🍂 Enjoy the Autumn Forest 🍁
